Environmental engineer records family of coatis in Mysterious Lagoon
Last week, Esterquille Osvaldo Jr., Environmental Engineer of the Mysterious Lagoon (Jardim-MS) carried out some footage of a family of coatis.
According to him "the video records an adult coati in a tree waiting for the puppies climb. But with my presence the adult tree down and call them with a distinctive sound, this time going down and everyone starts running toward her, passing through the camera lens enabling the count of seven puppies, including puppies dark and clear, probably males and females", reveals Jr.
The coatis live in trees, forming groups of 4 to 20 individuals, walking the woods in search of food consisting of small birds, eggs, insects, fruits and worms of larvae in the soil.
Travel about 1.5 to 2 km every day looking for food.
They are diurnal animals, although adult males often practice nocturnal activities.
